Ayurveda is the oldest surviving holistic medical system in the world originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. The term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words AYUR (Life) and VEDA (Science or Knowledge). Thus, Ayurveda translates to knowledge of life.
Ayurveda is based on the premise that the universe is made up of five elements: Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Ether. These elements are represented in humans by three ‘Doshas’, or Energies.
